Testing powertrains to move the future

Power electronics / inverter

„The Power electronic contains the central intelligence of the powertrain system and thus decisively controls the system’s complete efficiency.”

We are happy to support you in the development of your power electronics/inverter, from prototype to product validation for production.

The emulator test bench is used to simulate electrical machines, allowing power electronics to be tested under full power without complex mechanical set ups.

This power-hardware-in-the-Loop (PHIL), or virtual dyno, offers many advantages, such as:

  • Power electronics do not need to be modified for test runs
  • No mechanical limitations, wear and tear or hazards
  • No real e-motor and dyno required (e-motor is a software model, no dyno control influences)
  • Virtual motor properties can be modified quickly and easily
  • Protection for the inverters to be tested via active phase current and programmed power limitations
  • Performance data:
    AC current: 800 [ARMS]
    DC: 1,000 [VDC]
Test Capacities
  • Reliability and durability testing
  • unit and ambient air conditioning (up to -40°C)
  • Power measurement (1,000V, 2,000A, 500kW)
  • Depending on the application, for different power, current and voltage requirements
  • E-machine emulator (EME)/power hill
  • Data input and parameterisation
  • Electrical and functional testing (LV123, LV124, LV148)
  • State-of-the art measurement technology
Equipment

For the development and testing of efficient power electronics, our emulator test bench (EME) can be individually tailored to best suit the task at hand.

Applications – E-Motor Emulator:
  • Functional tests
  • Hardware-specific tests
  • Safety tests
  • Fault simulation
  • End-of-line testing
