Testing powertrains to move the future

Battery – Cells / Moduls / Packs

„As a key component for the successful electrification of the mobility sector, the battery and its development play a major role in the direction into a greener future.”

As a validation partner for numerous customers from the automotive, marine, aviation and heavy-duty industries, KST and its cooperation partner SERMA Energy offer battery tests on all levels of the battery, for cells, modules and packs.

Electrical and performance testing

Electrical and performance testing are used to test system electrical performances on modern test benches so that their efficiency and reliability can be improved.

System behavior and ageing are observed using different tests:

  • Characterisation testing
  • Endurance testing
  • BMS validation testing

All kinds of battery tests can be performed on cell, module and pack level.

Dynamic air and media conditioning from -40°C up to 120°C.

Mechanical tests

Mechanical tests are used to characterise system behavior by creating a relationship between constraints and their effects. We carry out mechanical tests on batteries, power electronics and motors:

  • Vibration
  • Mechanischer Shock
  •  Crash

For mechanical testing, we integrate your system onto the test bench (manufacturing of fixtures). We are able to test oversized products such as HEV, PHEV and EV battery packs.

Environmental tests

Environmental tests help to provide better product design, efficiency and reliability, but also the validation of specified performances.

  • Cycling and thermal shock testing
  • Relative humidity cycling testing
  • Protection rating testing – IP (as per standards)
  • Leak tests
  • Corrosion tests
  • UV tests

These environmental tests can be carried out as per the ISO 16750-4, IEC 60068-2, 36-00-802, B21 7130, ISO 9227, DO 160, etc. standards.
